Budget and Finance

Meeting Day: 2nd Tuesday

The Budget and Finance Committee is responsible for: 1 - Periodically monitoring the revenues and expenses of the Tribe's departments and programs including updates from program directors as requested. 2 - Periodically monitoring the revenues and expenses associated with the Tribe's investments. 3 - Developing the Tribal, Restricted Use, Indirect Cost, and other budgets to recommend approval from the Menominee Tribal Legislature. 4 - Analyzing and/or developing policies recommending the Tribe's budget and finance. 5 - Providing research, investigation and advisory assistance to the programs as it pertains to the above items. 6 - Conduct budget hearings.

Community Development

Meeting Day: 3rd Wednesday

The Community Development Committee shall be responsible for (a) receiving and examining reports of departments assigned to it; (b) studying and reviewing, on a comprehensive basis, matters relating to community and limited economic development issues; and (c) reviewing and making recommendations to the Legislature on requests for use of tribal lands and resources; (d) reporting its findings and recommendations to the Legislature as it deems necessary. The Community Development Committee shall be responsible for developing and overseeing a vast array of programs and services aimed at developing community infrastructure, addressing solid waste disposal needs of the community, maintaining land use assignments, and conducting short and long term planning in the development of the community.

Law Enforcement Committee

The Law Enforcement Committee shall be responsible for (a) receiving and examining reports of departments assigned to it; (b) studying and reviewing, on a comprehensive basis, matters relating to law enforcement, and (c) reporting its findings and recommendations to the Legislature as it deems necessary.

Enrollment

Meeting Day: 3rd Week

The Menominee Enrollment Committee is established per Menominee Constitution & By- Laws. Article II- Tribal Membership, Section 3. The main purpose is to review enrollment application for new membership, descendant register applications and blood quantum changes.

Governmental Affairs

This committee shall be responsible for providing research, investigation, and advisory assistance to the Tribal Legislature. Specifically, the committee shall receive, review, and analyze information and data submitted by respective departments and make recommendations to the Tribal Legislature; shall receive, review and analyze the effects of laws enacted to reorganize departments under the legislative branch and report its findings and recommendations; shall receive, review and analyze policies relating to governmental operations and make recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Tribal Government.

Health and Family

The Health & Family Committee shall be responsible for (a) receiving and examining reports of departments assigned to it; (b) studying and reviewing, on a comprehensive basis matters relating to health, recreation, social services, and public welfare; and (c) reporting its findings and recommendations to the Legislature as it deems necessary. All matters of policy relating to health, recreation, social services, and public welfare shall originate in this committee and all matters of concern relating to the same shall be referred to this committee.
