ICE Update

January 30, 2025 We want to inform our membership that we have not been able to verify any report of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presence in our community, and any accounts remain unproven. However, if you do see something of concern, we encourage you to inform tribal officials so we can respond appropriately. The tribe is aware of other reports emerging from areas around the country involving tribal citizens in ICE raids. We want to reassure the membership that their safety and security is our highest priority. Should you ever encounter ICE agents, we urge you to remain calm and cooperate without escalating the situation. Please carry with you a federal, state, or tribal ID while in public. The tribe will be ready to confirm the identity of our tribal members and descendants if ever contacted by ICE. In support of our community, the tribe will make one free tribal ID or Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) available to members and registered descendants who do not possess one. This will remain in effect through April 30 and is open to those both on and off-reservation . Tribal IDs and CIBs can be obtained through Member Services. Office hours are 8am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. The office can be reached at 715-799-5121. We encourage everyone to critically evaluate what they see on social media and to rely on official communication from the tribe and trusted sources for accurate information. The tribe will continue to monitor developments around illegal immigration enforcement and communicate any important information impacting our membership.
