Due to the rising numbers of local COVID-19 cases, and pursuant of the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control, MITW’s Emergency Management Coordinator has issued Emergency Order #19. This order takes effect at 6:00 AM on August 3rd, 2021, shall expire at 6:00AM on September 3rd, 2021 unless extended by the Emergency Management Coordinator.

This order allows for:

1. All places of worship, educational facilities, restaurants, bars, convenience stores and farmers market to operate at 100% in person capacity, and sell food.

2. All establishments, institutions, businesses, offices, stores and organizations on the reservation shall require 6 feet of physical distance between individuals and facemasks for all individuals while indoors regardless of their vaccination status.

3. All tribal government departments will remain open to 100% capacity, but shall require 6 feet of physical distance and facemasks for all individuals while indoors regardless of their vaccination status.

a. Tribal facilities will be open to the public by appointment only.

4. All events hosted by MTIW are postponed until further notice including but not limited to: pow wows, culture camps, graduations ceremonies or celebrations and any other form of large gatherings.

5. The Rec Center will be opened to fully vaccinated individuals only. See the emergency order for scheduling details and sanitation requirements.

We would like to strongly encourage everyone that is eligible to participate in the vaccination program to do so to help prevent widespread outbreaks of COVID-19 in our community. While vaccination drastically lower a person’s risk of contracting COVID-19, it is still possible for them to become infected, so we encourage everyone to avoid large gatherings especially that are being held indoors.
