Supportive Services provide the assistance to individuals in overcoming personal or environmental handicaps, which
inhibit their employability. These services will be provided to the participant when it is determined that they are
essential in achieving the objective of employment entry and when the employability plan developed for the
participants call for them. It is assumed that the kind and level of services will vary from each participant but
that every participant will require some type of supportive service. Typical supportive services might include, but
are not limited to the following:
- Transportation, mileage, or bus passes.
- Clothing/Uniforms, for participants who are required to wear uniforms or have a dress code at their place
of employment.
- Licenses, for participants that are required to have a specialty license (e.g. Gaming) or driving license.
- Training material, to provide tools, books and other materials which are needed by participants in the
course of training activities or meeting their employability plan.
- Other supportive services provided in support of career or educational goals.
Supportive services provided will vary, depending on the participants served and the conditions of the service areas.
Participants needs for supportive services tend to be individualistic and require attention on a case by case basis in
order to be effective. New needs may arise at any time during program participation.
