Domestic
Maehnowesekiyah's Domestic Violence Program offers an array of services to assist families affected by domestic violence. The goals of this program are to assist clients in first obtaining safety and to assist clients with their needs. The program assists with restraining orders, emergency food, clothing, advocacy, crises counseling, and support, and provides a Survivor's Support Group.

In assisting clients to become self sufficient and empowering them physically, emotionally, mentally, culturally, and spiritually, long term services are available. These may consist of continued support and advocacy, support group and individual counseling in choosing healthy relationships. In conjunction with the host of services at Maehnowesekiyah, clients also have the availability of accessing the AODA Program/Services as well as the family therapist if desired. The program can assist with information and referral for domestic violence shelter services. Transportation to shelter can also be provided.

In addition to our adult services we at Maehnowesekiyah also offer a Children's Support Group, where children receive individual counseling and education. The children's group as well as our adult group provides a cultural atmosphere of support.

The Domestic Violence Program at Maehnowesekiyah provides Community Education through the school system as well as monthly presentations in our communities and with other service providers in our area.

Maehnowesekiyah's Domestic violence Program facilitates our area Coordinated Community Response Team meetings on domestic violence. By this combined effort in our community we can better assist in helping to change our response as a team to domestic violence.
