Mission Statement
The Department of Trust Resources serves the Tribe by:
  • Monitoring the forest management and forest development practices of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin.
  • Addressing communication regarding forest management and forest development issues.
  • Promoting involvement of tribal members in the management of the Tribe's natural resources.
 
Department Overview
This department carries out it's mission through:
  • Interaction with the different entities directly involved in the day-to-day management and development of the Menominee forest; specifically on contractual issues;
  • Identification of communication problems between the different entities involved in the management and development of the Menominee forest, including, but not limited to;

    • Menominee Tribal members
    • Menominee Tribal Legislature
    • Menominee Tribal Enterprises
    • Menominee Tribal Departments
    • Bureau of Indian Affairs
    • Wisconsin DNR
    • Others as warranted

  • Establishment of corrective measures to improve or develop communications between the different entities identified above.
  • Development of a mentor program in the natural resource field through mutual cooperation with natural resource programs on the Menominee reservation to provide a summer internship opportunity. Also serving as a source for information regarding opportunities in the field of natural resources outside of the reservation.
